Living Out Loud

The Voice Over Journey of Cat Smith

This just in… I can’t tell you.

First of all, I’m excited that today is Thursday.  I had been thinking all day that today was Friday and though yes, I could post four blogs in one day, my actual resolution for 2012 was to blog four days per week.  So sure, I could catch up that way but I’d be cheating myself.  Today being Thursday means this week isn’t a wash as long as I begin with posting today.

So, several wonderful opportunities came up for me this week and I can’t talk about a single one of them yet.  Shucks!  That really makes for boring blogging.  I can however tell you that my cohost for one of two new podcasts and I got together for our first production meeting and the project is sounding very exciting.  We’re going to record the first episode on February 22 and the tentative name for the show is Pop Corny.  What do you think of that title?  It’s going to be a pop culture and current events type of show, half an hour, and once per week.  I can’t tell you who our first guest is as I haven’t actually invited him on the show yet.  But, there’s a clue.  I said “him.”  That clearly narrows it down.

I received another glowing recommendation from Steven Lowell at Voice 123.  He posted on Facebook through BranchOut.  “Cat Smith is a creative and positive voice talent, with excellent writing and blogging skills. She is a pleasure to communicate with! ”  How nice is that?  Thank you so much Steven.

Speaking of Steven Lowell, he would like me to do a recorded interview with one of the Voice 123 staff to post in their blog.  I’m a little stumped on what the topic should be.  Loyal blog readers, do you have a subject you would like to hear me discuss?  If so, please leave a comment below.  I would love a little inspiration.

I’ve decided that none of the auditions that I have recorded would make for an interesting commercial demo, so I’ve started searching for scripts.  I only have 45 seconds to make an impact so I want to make sure the writing is the best it can be.  Do you have a favorite ad?  Something that really sticks with you whether or not you used the product or service?  If so, feel free to leave a link or description to that below and I’ll check it out.  In the meantime, as those super duper top secret projects come to light, I will be sure to share all of the exciting news.  For now, just know there are some pretty fun times ahead for the Catstress.

  1. Fudge! After writing that blog I realized TODAY IS FRIDAY! Sigh. Since I thought I wrote it on Thursday, can it just count as Thursday’s blog and I’ll write another one? LOL.
